Face-to-Face Course Requests for Canvas

Note that all Fall 2018 scheduled courses have already been created in Canvas. Web-assisted instructors can request modifications to their face-to-face courses using Course Creator. Course Creator allows for web-assisted instructors to add additional faculty or TAs to a course, request a course copy, request for multiple courses to be combined (or cross-listed), and/or add other special instructions.

Please go to Course Creator at https://coursecreator.fiu.edu to get started with requests for your face-to-face courses. Note that faculty will only be able to log in to Course Creator if they have an assigned course in PantherSoft as an instructor.

All faculty have access in Canvas to this self-paced Faculty Starter Kit. It is designed to provide an overview of the tools and features of Canvas and to prepare you for for course design and delivery. This course highlights multiple ways you can leverage Canvas to design, deliver, and manage your course effectively. The starter kit is available once you log into Canvas.

Online Faculty Transition Kit

This self-paced course includes information, procedures, and resources for faculty who want to work independently to transition a Blackboard course to Canvas. After your Blackboard content has been moved into your Canvas course, the Faculty Transition Kit will help you determine which materials you want to work with, which will need to be edited, and which items need to be recreated. You may request access to the Faculty Transition Kit course.

Sandbox Course

Faculty have access to Sandbox Courses that allow for exploration and testing on the Canvas Learning Management System. A Sandbox Course contains all the basic features and functionality of a standard course, including course content, discussion board, messages, assessments, assignment dropbox, grade center, etc.

In your Sandbox Course, you will have editing/faculty rights that allow you to practice and utilize all the tools available in Canvas. This course is a private space where you can test items without impacting your live course. Also, as you are the only one enrolled in the course, there is no need to worry about managing your students.

Sandbox Request Form

A Sandbox Course is to be used for testing purposes only, and not for live course shell creation. All faculty have access to a Sandbox Course. If you are a staff member and would like access to a Sandbox course, please submit a request below.
